“Divot Diggers… and the Day I Played a Round with Spanky”

I don’t know how it happens… but every now and then, I find myself stepping straight into the past.

This time?
👉 A quiet little golf course… somewhere around 1936.

And standing right beside me… none other than Spanky McFarland.

⛳ The Moment

There I was, bent over a putt, dressed just like the times — sweater, slacks, and now that 1930s cap sitting just right. The grass was smooth, the air still… and behind me, Spanky held the flag like he owned the whole course.

He didn’t say much.
Just watched.

That’s how Spanky was — always thinking, always plotting something.

🎬 Back to Divot Diggers

Now if you remember this short, you already know — this wasn’t your typical day on the golf course. This was Our Gang style golf:

  • Clubs swinging wild
  • Balls going everywhere but the hole
  • And more laughs than strokes

The kids weren’t out there to win.
They were out there to turn a proper gentleman’s game into pure chaos.

And somehow… I ended up right in the middle of it.

🧠 BJ’s Time Travel Notes

Standing there, lining up that putt, I realized something…

Back then, even a quiet game like golf turned into an adventure.
Not because of the game — but because of who was playing it.

Spanky didn’t care about rules.
He cared about fun.

And for a split second, so did I.

I tapped the ball…

Did it go in?

Well… let’s just say…
👉 In Our Gang, it’s not about the scorecard.
